Our visit to Dana Point for the annual Whale Festival was highly anticipated, but sadly quite soggy. The boys still had fun and while we failed to have any whale sightings, they did get their fill of boats in the harbor and also on land in between rain showers. Max loved using the umbrella as a pretend “laser blaster” and trying out his new silly face. After unsuccessfully trying to move a very large permanent outdoor anchor fixture, the boys decided their time would be better spent at the Ocean Institute. They loved learning how dolphins use echolocation to communicate and dissecting a shrimp was “so cool.” They also got to see and touch whale baleen and learn how they use it to eat.

On Sunday the weather was pretty wet and the waves were pretty impressive so Eric suggested we spend our morning devouring yummy bites at a French patisserie. Yep, best husband ever.
