Now that Max is a LITTLE easier to travel with, we decided that we needed to spread our wings and check out some new California destinations. Our first stop: Big Bear Lake located in the San Bernadino mountains.
We were joined by our friends (and fellow Riot family) the Loys for a fun and memorable weekend! Effie, Paul, Ethan (little Ethan) and Maggie (formerly of London) were great company and endured a crazy weekend with little sleep, but more than enough entertainment to make up for it (right?). The boys experienced their first chairlift and boat rides and Ethan even got to drive the boat with Dad!
Top 5 memories from the weekend:
1. The chairlift ride up the mountain with a beautiful view of Big Bear Lake
2. Hiking through the San Bernadino Mountains – with the Ethans holding hands and Max & Maggie riding in their hiking packs
3. Ethan loved dinner at the Teddy Bear Restaurant…(huge fan of breakfast for dinner) meanwhile, Max was a little spooked by the oversized teddy sitting outside
4. A peaceful boat ride around the lake – all the boys took turns driving
5. Late night chats with good friends while enjoying brisk mountain air and lots of wine

Your excursion to Big Bear lake looked quite enjoyable.
However,from the pictures you took,I wondered who the young lady was that had her hand on MAX’s leg?Also,tell Ethan that he looks like a true sailor steering the boat. Now that your taking in the Calif. sites I guess HEARST’s Castle is right around the corner. Or maybe,the next time you go to Big Bear mountain you will have your ski’s with you.Enjoy Calif.so much to see and do. Love you. PAWPAW-TOM
