Max celebrated his first birthday on September 9th. And while it was a small, intimate gathering, he was able to celebrate with some very special people…Grandma and Grandpa Danker made the trip into LA for Max’s big day! Uncle Tim also visited one night that week.
It was a fun visit for all and we even made a special first trip to Disneyland for the occasion. Ethan had a blast and his favorite memory of the day was getting to meet Mickey Mouse. Of course, Max will probably get much more out of future visits…and hopefully next time he sees Mickey, he won’t scream!
Max didn’t much care for his cake and icing…he actually cried after tasting it. Clearly not a fan of the texture or taste…YET. Max ended up giving Bailey the lion’s share of his cake by dropping it off the side of his highchair for her. However, he did enjoy his cards and gifts!
Max is soooo busy these days…and I’m not sure if Ethan was ever this busy. From afar, I watched Max’s crib “pre-bedtime show” tonight which included Max dancing, singing, trying to take apart his Glow Worm, throwing everything out of the crib, running his teeth along his crib rail, doing “roll-em-up” with his chubby little arms while giggling to himself and then finally giving it up…falling asleep with his rear end up in the air. It was so hard to watch all of this with a straight face, but this is life with Max in a nutshell.
Max’s Favorite things:Â Stealing my cell phone or the remote control, chasing and then hugging Bailey dog, kissing his reflection in his mirror closet door, sucking his thumb, finding stray flip-flops and socks, reading books.
Least favorite things:Â Cake and icing, shots, nap time, cottage cheese, changing tables at Disneyland!
Favorite past-time:Â Playing hide and go seek, Dumping containers of items over his head and then wearing the container like a hat, taking everything out of my lower kitchen cabinet multiple times within a single evening.
Current baby tricks:Â Clapping, “So Big,” Roll-em-up, giving fives
New Words / Sounds:Â Goggy (Doggy), numm-numm-numm-numm (food), and lots of babbles!
Working toward:Â Running after his big brother or away from Mommy when I’m trying to chase him. He loves going to the park because he can go, go, GO!
Happy 1st Birthday, Max!
