As part of a Junior Immersion Service trip, Ethan and 40+ other CBC Cadets traveled to Costa Rica for a conservation project that aims to conserve and protect existing mangrove forests along the coastal zones and reforestation of 2.6 kilometers of island shoreline that have been affected by human action and natural conditions. Led by science teacher Stephanie Ryan, we are proud of our Cadet doing great things!

What an amazing last day in the Arenal Area. Kayaking on Lake Fortuna next to the volcano and swimming near and seeing La Fortuna Waterfall. Just amazing.

Day 2 in La Fortuna – visit to an organic farm to make our chocolate, zip line canopy tour, and a night walk through the jungle

Organic Farm owned by a former Elementry school teacher with a focus on Chocolate Production. Lunch and then a Canpoy Zip Line tour! Roamed la Fortuna and ended with a night walk in an Ecological Park.

Woke up nice and early at the new hotel, started with breakfast and then headed to a chocolate farm tour to learn about the stages of harvesting and processing of cacao.
Students worked together to process, sift and then create their own cacao mixture.
Beautiful scenery along with lunch and then we found some poison frogs!!
After lunch we went zip-lining followed by exploring and shopping in La Fortuna.
We made our way back to the chocolate farm for an all organic dinner and ended the night with the night hike to see the nocturnal wildlife!

Long day to Arenal Region of Costa Rica. Volcano and Hot Springs today.

Long travel day to the Arenal Region. Made a few pit stops along the way, one had a butterfly house, another a hummingbird garden!
Stopped for lunch and souvenirs before making it to the hot springs!!!
The hot springs were a nice, relaxing experience in the middle of a long day on the bus. Now we’re off for another hour ride back to our hotel!

Took a trip to Manuel Antonio National Park today for a jungle walk and a visit to la Playa Esperida for some beach/ocean time. Everyone had a blast! Saw a sloth, some deer, and got up close and personal w/ a troupe of Capuchin monkeys.

Visited the Manuel Antonio National Park! Swam in the Pacific Ocean for the first time!! Saw a sloth and other animals in this park.
