The journey to gaining the highly coveted driver’s license began in May 2022 when he passed his driver’s permit test. We immediately signed him up for driving lessons with Coach Harder since they provided a vehicle for training.

Next we needed to find this kid a set of wheels…

Little did we realize how tricky that was going to be. The used car inventory was nonexistent! So we ordered the young fellow a brand new Kia Forte GT. He was so excited when it finally arrived in July!

Once his car arrived, we hired Patrice Billings with Excel Driving School. I was under the impression that Ethan would also get a lot of practice while driving with his dad….but that wasn’t the reality. MOM became the one to drive with Ethan. I didn’t mind and this ultimately helped keep the peace in the family. (Eric would often get yelly and grabby when driving with E, which would stress out the young driver.) All in all, I think Ethan did a great job learning how to drive among all the crazies!!!

On Dec 21, we took Ethan and his go-to guys to Puttshack at the Foundry in celebration of his birthday! They nibbled on beignets, s’more flat bread, and pizza….they came back to the house and played Jackbox, basketball, and of course, Overwatch. I think the guys had a good time and it was a nice opportunity to unwind after their last semester final. As if operating a vehicle wasn’t enough of a significant milestone, I’ve just realized he only has 2.5 years left of high school. (eeeek!)

Ethan felt prepared for his driving test so we made plans to test during Christmas break!

He passed with a 92%!
