Both Max and Ethan are sleeping so soundly after a full day’s worth of Halloween fun!
Despite the fact that the Halloween costume catalog from a month ago is tattered, taped and viewed as a sacred publication at our house…and despite the fact that Ethan and Max both poured over it for days and have asked me to keep it….they both knew what they wanted to be for Halloween without much debate.
Max is attempting to break into the Guinness Book of World Records with his viewings of the Toy Story trilogy. So who did he want to be for Halloween? In his words, “BZZZZZZZ!” (Not Buzz, Bzzzz!). Ethan had so much fun dressing up as Harry Potter at the Loy’s Jubilee party that he begged to be Harry once more. Easy enough. Done.
We started off our Halloween celebration last Friday at SMT’s Trunk-or-Treat event and got a sneak peak of Ethan’s classmates’ costumes. Max stayed close by as he wasn’t too sure of the dark parking lot filled with eerily decorated vehicles, spooky music and people dressed up….but Ethan sure did enjoy it.
On Saturday we celebrated our friend Ethan Loy’s (AKA Little Ethan) 4th birthday (he’s a Halloween baby!) and enjoyed all sorts of amazing treats his “mummy” created! Ethan and Max definitely had a great time playing “Pass the Parcel” and “Duck, Duck, Ghost” as well as hunting for treasures in the garden. Best party favor: eyeball bouncy balls. Max is crazy about these “eyeballs!”
Ethan and Daddy carved his gigantic pumpkin he hand selected from a pumpkin patch. Ethan was really excited to see it all lit up, but as you’ll see in the video….he wanted to help more, yet didn’t want to get his hands dirty. Hmph. In any case, both the boys loved the Jack-o’-lantern. (Yes, they are giving it a smooch in the photo. Don’t ask.)
The morning of Halloween Ethan had a costume parade at school and made all types of Halloween crafts including a t-shirt, cookies and ornaments. Here he’s pictured with some of his buddies, but you’ll notice in the photos that the majority of his class is female. (19 girls and 6 boys….something tells me the girls are going to get tired of their boyfriend pool in a few years!)
Max also had a parade and pizza party at his new school and practiced trick-or-treating. Unfortunately, he wasn’t too fond of being separated from mommy and had his teacher carry him for most of the parade. While the parade wasn’t Max’s favorite, he did enjoy spending time with his friends Ethan and Katherine…and of course looking through his goody bag.
Sarah brought Crew and Sibley over for a quick photo opp and I failed at getting a good shot of all four of them looking at the camera. Max would only be in the pictures if he could hold the Captain America shield and the sword. Buzz Lightyear meets Avengers meets Sir Lancelot? Oh well, I caught the spirit of the day….CRAZY!

Tonight we trick-or-treated at Riot with Brigid, Amity and Little Ethan. It was actually really nice to have a controlled, safe environment for the boys….er…MAX! (Although our Buzz was pretty convinced that his wings worked and tried jumping from anything that was more than a few inches off the ground.) The Riot team decorated, had a costume contest and stocked up on treats for the kiddos. They even had a photographer on hand for fun party pics. Of course, our photo was the perfect image of chaos with Max only being photographed if I was in it, pulling off his hood so he could suck his thumb and play with his hair. Ethan was just being a clown. Such is trick-or-treating with the boys.
Hope you ghouls and boys had a spooktacular Halloween — Enjoy the pics below and please send us photos if you dressed up . The boys would love to see them!

Everyone looked like they were having such a great time. The boys looked adorable (but they always look adorable to me).
The pumpkin is awesome too. I think it’s a riot that Ethan doesn’t want to get his hands dirty. Paw-paw Dave will have to get him on the farm more – he’s forgotten it’s OK to get “dirty”. Love and kisses to all, Maw-maw
Enjoyed the Halloween Blog……….but then I enjoy all of them. I don’t know how many times I have watched Max and the Chocolate Flavored Kisses………..that is sooooooooo funny and I laugh til the tears run down my face. Glad a good time was had by all. Where was Max when the pumpkin was being carved???????? I’ll bet he would have put his hands inside and got them all messy. Luv ‘n thoughts to all……..Nana
