Our little firecrackers kept us busy over the holiday weekend, but overall our 4th of July was fairly quiet. It was a little different not having any set plans this year, but with Max being so little, we knew we weren’t going to find ourselves in the middle of an explosive fireworks display. Maybe next year 🙂

We made our typical weekend run to the farmers market Sunday (learned what Pluots are – plum crossed with an apricot – YUM!) and on Monday to the Promenade, ate at our favorite breakfast spot (Cafe Crepe) and then walked over to Main Street for the Santa Monica 4th of July parade. It was cute and very low-key…which was nice. Made it feel more small town than booming metropolis.

Later that night, we were able to see fireworks from our rooftop patio. You can see from the video that it was nothing earth-shattering, but at least it was a little sparkle and boom.

Rooftop Fireworks 2011

Ethan snuck out of bed and watched it with us. So as Ethan would say, “Happy Birthday, America!”
