Living with a one-year-old is an amazing experience. While at times it keeps you up at night, it also keeps you young, humble and always on your toes. There are so many moments of discovery. So many firsts. And so many challenges! Looking back, Max had a such great year and we had so much fun watching him learn and grow.
Being so far away from loved ones, we decided to celebrate Max’s 2nd birthday in a special way…something that we never could do in Missouri…a birthday party at the Beach! We had a few close friends meet us at the Annenberg Beach House to swim, have a picnic on the beach and of course, eat cupcakes. Happy 2nd birthday, Max!

How to operate a motorized vehicle…
As well as a Cozy Coupe
How to eat french fries with a fork

Discovering that big brother’s CLEAN undies make great hats
How to climb out of a crib (and pack n play)
How to use an iPhone and iPad with finesse. He can find a Toy Story clip on YouTube in seconds!
Dog food is not very tasty
PlayDoh with Ethan is so much fun
Animals come in all shapes and sizes
Sharing is not always easy
How to properly veg-out
Don’t underestimate the importance of flexibility
Hugs, kisses and snuggles are sweet
Parks are our temporary backyard
Small containers, bins and baskets can also double as boats, cars and forts
LA fashion has no boundaries
Brothers are forever friends
Max and Ethan make us smile, laugh and enjoy life!

Ah,,,,,,,,,,,,,,our little one is growing up so quickly. We miss seeing him go thru all the new things he has discovered about life. But, thanks to MAMA and DADDY thru the pictures, we can appreciate his last year. HAPPY 2ND BIRTHDAY MAX!!!!!!!!!! We luv and miss you!!!!!!!!!!
I heard kids learn fast in Calif. , but learning to drive at two is pretty fast . Happy Birthday Maxwell “Thomas” , I hope you had a wonderful time at your party . Also , I like your new hat even though its your brothers undies . When we see you next , we can compare hats , because PAWPAW-TOM is currently wearing a new hat . Ethan , I enjoyed seeing pictures of your first day at kindergarten with your school uniform and new backpack . You should develop big muscles lugging your backpack loaded with homework books . I agree with Nana Moore and Paw-Paw Tom – we enjoy all the pics and hearing about all your adventures in LA. We of course miss you lots and lots, but that makes the time we do have together even more special.
We are anxiously awaiting our next visit with you. You and your big brother are growing up way too fast. Ethan will soon be 6 and before you know it Max, you will be starting Kindergarten, too. We love you both so-o-o-o much. Hugs and kisses and more hugs and kisses. Maw-Maw
Max and Ethan are blessed to have such talented and caring parents. The parents, in turn, are blessed to have such extraordinary boys! The Grandparents are just plain blessed!
The blog has been such an amazing vehicle for story-telling, picture sharing and a chance for us old folks to ease the pain of separation.
