After we finished up our big Sur leg, we stopped to see the Elephant Seals at Piedras Blancas rookery near San Simeon. Elephant Seals migrate twice a year to their land based rookery for birthing, breeding, molting and rest. They were so fun to watch as they lay sunning on the beach. Unfortunately, Max fell asleep and missed this stop so Ethan and I captured some video for him.

We splurged and stayed on the Moonstone Beach in Cambria at a great little hotel called Moonstone Landing. We walked along the beach boardwalk to dinner and then hung out in the hot tub beneath the stars. Ethan even brought home a few special moonstones found on this special portion of the CA shore. Moonstone Landing was my favorite overnight spot.

We spent our final morning of spring break at Hearst Castle in San Simeon. I was hoping to spot a zebra or two, but will settle for being an arm’s length away from priceless relics and artwork while admiring the view (and outrageously large pools) of WRH’s summer ranch.

Oh what a beautiful place Hearst Castle is! I have always wanted to see it and now I have seen a part of it. All the pics are fabulous…Ethan did a good job! Luv to all.
