After spending a night in Monterey, we continued south on Highway 1 and took a quick tour of Pebble Beach and stopped to run around barefoot on Carmel Beach – definitely one of the prettiest beaches I’ve seen in CA.

Before leaving Carmel-by-the-Sea we visited the Carmel Mission also known as Mission San Carlos Borroméo del rÃo Carmelo.

We drove south along Highway 1 and stopped many times to take in the beauty of the coast. If Big Sur doesn’t make you fall in love with California, I’m not sure what will.

We stopped at Pfeiffer Big Sur State Park for hike and ice cream followed by a picnic lunch.
We also made a stop at Julia Pfeiffer Burns State Park for another hike and beautiful waterfall.
